So you have worked hard and toiled night and day to create your own perfect garden. Perhaps you are also growing
some fruits and vegetables. Maybe you would like to keep the garden as organic as possible. But there is just one
problem. Those pesky little things known as weeds keep popping up here and there and keep ruining your plans.
Weeds as we all know can be a real hassle to control and getting rid of them at any cost seems to be on top of
the agenda with any serious gardener. The good news is that it can be done relatively easily and in an organic way
to boot. Of course one way to do it would be to pick your way through them, but that can be time consuming and a
hassle to do so.
The following are some tips to get rid of weeds in a natural way. Natural weed killers are easy to find and
- Salt: Salt is one of the best “weedicides” on the planet. And what’s more it is an
abundant material and cheap. Put approximately ¼ teaspoon at the base of the weed and it will wither up in no
time. Do not put anymore as there will be a risk of too much run off affecting the plants you want to keep
- Plastic bags: Put plastic bags or a tarp on top of the weed you want to get rid of and
weigh it down with rocks. Leave it there for a fortnight or so and remove it, which will reveal a barren earth.
If you do not have access to a lot of plastic bags then news papers will do the trick
- Boiling Water: Pour some boiling water on the weeds you would like to kill. It will work
well and getting boiling water has to be one of the easiest things. This method is so effective that you should
be careful not to pour it on a plant you want.
- Vinegar: You can use either cider vinegar or white vinegar for this. It is a relatively
cheap substance to buy. One way to do it is to mix it with clove essential oils and then spray the weeds with
it. Not only do you get rid of the weed with this method, you also will get a nice smelling garden to boot. It
needs to be repeated for about 15 days to see any results.
